What the client wanted: the Olympic Games are not only an exceptional sporting event; they also provide the host country with an opportunity to make great strides forward in the renewal and development of its infrastructures, public spaces and technologies. The innovative features of Clabermeteo offerings proved to have the edge over many other international competitors who submitted bids to install the watering systems for three important Olympic sports complexes, each with specific characteristics:

  • the brand new Liosia Stadium, located in a fast-growing urban development area, occupying a 65,000 m² site of which 55,000 m² would be green.
  • the Helleniko Olympic Complex, built in record time on a site of 120,000 m² overall, including 70,000 m² allocated as vehicle parking and green areas.
  • the Nafsika Astir Palace, a prestige resort situated just outside the Greek capital, on a green peninsula of 320,000 m² already equipped with a Clabermeteo system from a previous installation.

The Clabermeteo solution: three IDS Decoder Watering Systems, each designed to meet the particular needs of the site and the client.

  • Watering for the Liosia Stadium is managed by a central computer with Aquameteo IDS software installed, a Peripheral Line Controller (CLP) and 64 decoders for bistable valves, providing highly selective control over watering in each of the single sectors.
  • Green areas of the Helleniko Olympic Complex are watered using a system controlled by Aquameteo IDS software and comprising a central computer, one CLP and 10 Meteolab multi-zone satellite units, each able to control 15 watering stations: a total of 150 valves, controlled with maximum ease and flexibility.
  • The existing Clabermeteo system at the Nafsika Astir Palace was upgraded with the addition of new Aquameteo IDS software, CLP and 86 decoders for bistable valves, giving a total of 190 watering zones.
